Winter Break Programs 2011/12

I am excited to announce that I will be co-hosting a workshop during Winter Break with Fibre Person Alisa Mc Ronald.

The Community Quilt Project is a group project where participants create 2 quilt blocks, 1 to take home and 1 to contribute to a quilt that will be donated to a not-for-profit organization that helps children and families.
I will also be running a Marble Madness program.  Come and learn the techniques, lingo, and several games.
Register early as space is limited.  I hope to see you there!

The Children's Art Factory @ The Santa Claus Parade

The Children's Art Factory had a walking float in the Guelph Santa Claus parade and BiRDEYE was there to help out with the occasion.  We handed out candy canes and entry forms for our "Winter Wonderland Drawing Contest."  It was such great fun!  Check out some of the pictures from the event.

The Children's Art Factory & Guelph Festival of Moving Media

I am so excited to be working with Melissa Mazar of The Children's Art Factory.  She has created such a great space for kids to play and explore in.  It lends itself nicely to the messier side of art where children can really explore the texture and feel of the materials used.

The studio recently hosted some children's films as part of the Guelph Festival of Moving Media.  I was there to launch my new programs along with Fibre Person Alisa McRonald.  Monster movies played and afterwards we provided the children with materials to create their own monsters.
The event also hosted the gallery opening of Oliver's Monsters a collaboration by Oliver Pond and Laura Pinarello.  When her son Oliver was small, Handwork artist, Laura Pinarello decided to make stuffed 3-D toys from her son's monster drawings after discovering he was afraid of the dark.
